FAQ

What if my lesson falls on a rainy/hazy day?

Woodlands Swimming Complex: In the event that it starts to rain before the class, land practice, water safety theory or Q&A session may be conducted while waiting for the rain to stop. Pool session will resume as soon as the lightning alert is lifted. As such, please continue to come for class unless it is specifically cancelled. Parents please kindly note that there will be no make-up nor pro-rate for absenteeism regardless of pool session taking place.

In the event that it rains during the lesson, depending on the amount of time left, the instructor may dismiss the class immediately, or run land practices until closer to dismissal time.

Canadian International School / Aranda Country Club: In the event that it starts to rain before the class, a time period will be given for the rain to stop. Swimming Equipments such as Kickboards, Pull Buoys, Life Jackets, Hand Floats or Back Floats are provided during the lesson only. Students are required to bring their own Swimwear, Goggles, Cap and Clothing for lesson if required.

Other locations:

Complimentary kickboard and noodle set will be provided to the child upon signing up. Children will then have to bring their own equipments for every swim session.

What should I do if my child cries during lessons?

If your child cries, it may not mean that he/she is not ready for lessons. He could be adjusting to the separation anxiety from you, or familiarizing with the new environment. Do give him/her some time and let him develop his confidence, and they will be enjoying their classes very soon!

At what age can my child start swimming?

We accept all children who are 2 years old and above. If they are slightly below 4, we would also like to invite you to drop by our classes for a short assessment as we do take in slightly younger children on a case-by-case basis for our learn-to-swim programme.

Do I need to be in the pool with my child?

No, there is no need for you to be in the pool with your child. However, you can definitely observe the class near the pool!

Can I put my 7-year-old child with his 4-year-old younger sibling?

At Super Swimmies, we slot our students based on their swim experience and abilities. Both siblings may possibly start off in the same class, but as the older child has a better physical build and understanding, he may progress faster than his younger sibling. During such situations, the more experienced child will then be promoted to a better class to facilitate smoother learning.

My child is asthmatic. Can he learn swimming?

We will highly recommend a doctor’s advice as the severity of asthma varies from student to student.

Are there any trial classes I can send my child to?

Yes. We do provide a one-time trial for new students. Trial classes are charged at $25 for all locations. The trial class fees are non-inclusive of the month’s fees and if the child would like to continue with the class, the month’s fee will apply.

We highly recommend for students to sign up for a minimum of 1 month as a longer exposure to the swim class will be a more accurate visualisation of how a child responds to the lessons.

How long does it take for my child to learn to swim?

It is subjected to individual students based on their physical abilities and their fear for water. Generally, older children will take a shorter time to learn as compared to younger ones as they have stronger understanding ability.

Are there any replacement or make-up classes?

Woodlands Swimming Complex: We do not provide any replacement classes due to absenteeism. Classes will be replaced only if the lesson is cancelled by Super Swimmies Swim School. Partial payments are available for temporary stopping of lessons if children are going on a month-long holiday.

Aranda Country Club / Canadian International School / Condominiums: We do not provide any replacement classes nor pro-rate for non-explained absenteeism.

In the event that your child is ill, we will provide a make-up session for every lesson missed. A Medical Certificate covering the lesson day is compulsory in order to qualify for the make-up.

In the event of rain, every two back-to-back cancelled lessons will entitle one make-up class.

In the event of the child going on holiday, one make-up lesson will be arranged for every two  back-to-back missed lessons. Parents will be required to inform the school at least 2 weeks in advance in order to qualify for the make-up class.

Don’t worry! During the months where the day of your lesson enjoy a 5th week, Super Swimmies will give you the 5th lesson at no extra charges. These complimentary lessons serve as a bonus for the students with perfect attendance, and at the same time, provide the opportunity to the other children who have missed adhoc classes that do not qualify for make-up sessions.
